Introduction to the functions of ceramic fiber cotton insulation material for aluminum plants

Aluminum plant insulation material ceramic fiber cotton? Aluminum plants (especially aluminum melting furnaces) are typical high-temperature, strongly chemically corrosive environments. Due to the extremely high chemical activity and fluidity of molten aluminum (viscosity close to water at 750 ℃), as well as its strong penetration and reduction effect on ordinary refractory materials, aluminum plants have more stringent requirements for insulation materials such as ceramic fiber cotton than ordinary kilns.

The ceramic fiber cotton (aluminum silicate cotton) used in aluminum plants has the core of high temperature resistance, resistance to fluoride/aluminum liquid erosion, and low thermal conductivity. It is mainly used for insulation and sealing of electrolytic cells, melting furnaces, flow channels, and flue gas ducts. The common forms are loose cotton, blankets, rolled felt, and boards, which are matched into modules/folding blocks.

Core requirements for insulation material ceramic fiber cotton:

1. Extremely strong resistance to penetration and erosion
2. Excellent thermal shock resistance
3. Good chemical stability

For parts that come into direct contact with aluminum liquid or are at extremely high temperatures, it is strongly recommended to avoid ordinary 1050 ℃ standard products and prioritize ceramic fiber products with 1260 ℃ high-purity, 1400 ℃ high aluminum, or zirconium containing types. These high-grade products have higher alumina content, significantly stronger resistance to chemical erosion and high temperature.
