Aluminum plant insulation 1430 ℃ ceramic fiber blanket PLUS blanket? 1430 ℃ ceramic fiber blanket (usually referring to zirconium containing ceramic fiber blanket) and its upgraded version “PLUS blanket” (usually referring to high-performance blankets that have been specially reinforced, high-purity or composite treated) are core insulation materials for extreme high temperature environments. This ceramic fiber blanket can better adapt to the high temperature conditions of aluminum smelting furnaces, insulation furnaces, and flow channels than ordinary 1260 ℃ (standard/high-purity) ceramic fiber blankets.


Why is ceramic fiber blanket called “PLUS blanket“?
1. Extreme temperature resistance, higher safety redundancy
The PLUS blanket adopts a zirconium containing formula (ZrO ₂ content of 15-17%), with a classification temperature of up to 1430 ℃, and can work stably for a long time in an environment of 1350 ℃. Compared to ordinary 1260 ℃ blankets, its temperature resistance limit has been increased by nearly 200 ℃, providing sufficient safety redundancy for extreme areas such as hot spots and furnace door edges in aluminum smelters.
2. Anti erosion “protective shield”
Adding zirconia (ZrO ₂) not only improves temperature resistance, but also significantly enhances resistance to aluminum liquid and fluoride vapor. PLUS blanket can effectively block chemical corrosion and extend the service life of insulation layer by more than 30% in vulnerable areas such as the side of aluminum electrolytic cell and the door of aluminum melting furnace.
3. Energy saving and efficiency enhancing ‘multiplier’
The thermal conductivity of PLUS blanket is as low as 0.16 W/m · k (800 ℃), which can firmly lock in the heat inside the furnace. A case study of an aluminum processing enterprise shows that after using zirconium containing ceramic fiber blankets, the heat loss in the furnace door area is reduced by 65%, and the annual energy cost is saved by more than 2 million yuan.
4. Anti thermal shock ‘Iron Man’
The aluminum plant equipment frequently starts and stops, causing severe temperature fluctuations. The excellent thermal shock resistance of PLUS blanket ensures that it does not crack or peel off under rapid cooling and heating conditions, greatly reducing the frequency of shutdown maintenance.

In the production processes of aluminum electrolysis, melting, insulation, etc., the equipment is subjected to high temperature tests of 950-1100 ℃ for a long time, and local hot spots may even face extreme working conditions above 1300 ℃.
